Mafia Wars Movie

Hollywood is always lurking around hunting for new movie ideas. Well this time it looks like it's the popular Facebook game Mafia Wars that's going to be adapted into a movie.

If you aren't familiar with the game Mafia Wars, here's what it's all about:

The game revolves around doing and mastering jobs to earn cash and experience, with the goal of establishing and advancing one's criminal empire. Players create mafias by recruiting players and using reward points to hire extra mafia members. Social networking sites such as Facebook, MySpace and Friendster allow players to recruit from friends to build their mafia and fight against other players. Players can also improve their stats by visiting the Godfather (ie, making a micropayment).

It's a quite addictive game and it's quite succesfull, so no wonder that Producer Ted Field and Radar Pictures are considering to bring Mafia Wars to the big screen. It would be a crime thriller movie based on the universe of the popular video game.

The film is still at a very early stage, no scriptwriter has been hired yet... So it may take long before the Mafia Wars movie gets released in theaters.
